  BIOGRAPHY . short version

After receiving her training at the State School of Ballet in Berlin, Beate Vollack started working professionally at the "Komische Oper" in Berlin where she reached the rank of soloist in 1992.

She won the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi in 1994, and was engaged by the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich from 1996 through 2005.

She was named "Dancer of the year" by the German press for her interpretation of the role of Giselle in Mats Ek’s modern version of the ballet.

While pursuing her dance career, Beate also trained as a professional ballet teacher. This was the basis for her career as a choreographer.

From 2003 to 2006, Beate was the resident choreographer for the Bavarian State Opera and also worked as a guest choreographer for other theatres.

In 2006, Beate became a freelance choreographer and dancer.

From 2006 - 2008 she also worked as teacher of stage dance for opera singers at the Richard Strauss Conservatoire in Munich.

Her work as choreographer and movement director is featured at the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Zurich Opera House, at the RuhrTriennale Festival, the Bregenz Festival, the Salzburg Festival and the Gran Teatre del Liceu, among others.

Beate Vollack is working with many renowned directors, such as David Pountney,
Christof Loy, Richard Jones, David Alden, Doris Dörrie, Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier.

In 2009 her first ballet Don Quichotte premiered at the Opera in Wroclaw.

In 2010 she made her debut as director of Der Vogelhändler at the Landestheater
Niederbayern. Here, also her second ballet Das Goldene Schlüsselchen oder die Abenteuer des Pinocchio premiered.
